The Borrachito fish is a fish discovered in 1924 that belongs to the Hemigrammus genus, where there are more than 50 species in this genus.
Christoph Gustav Ernst Ahl was a German zoologist, who investigated the Hemigrammus rhodostomus, popularly
known in the world of Aquarius as Borrachito or drunk tetra.
DRUNK FISH VARIETIES:
BLEEDING-FIN TETRA FISH:
The bleeding fin tetra is easily recognized by its colored fins.
The caudal fin, anal fin, ventral fins, and dorsal fin are a deep red color that contrasts brilliantly against the silvery body.
This species of fish is characterized by its beauty, and it is also an active and robust fish that can live for more than 10 years in captivity.
It is an alternative to the more famous neon tetra.
Fusiform in shape and ray fins, its main morphological feature is that it lacks scales on the caudal fin. Slender body, slightly laterally compressed, frontal mouth and forked caudal fin. Loses the color of the fins at lower temperatures than usual.
Males measure up to 5 cm.
TETRA NUN FISH:
The Gymnocorymbus ternetzi fish, better known as nun fish, is a specimen from the Characidae (Characins) family.
This animal is highly sought after by those interested in aquariums, as it has an attractive coloration, adapts well to different environments and does not require a very specific pH.
Another point in its favor is its behavior inside the aquarium.
It is a very suitable fish to live in an Amazon-type community aquarium, where ideally a school should be introduced, which will move quickly and agilely, generating a great visual appeal.
This type of nun fish has a very particular shape, it has a raised body that thickens in the middle, but at the same time, it is compressed on the sides. Its eyes are very large (considering the size of its body), the mouth is positioned downwards and it is small.
It has what is called a short, bilobed caudal fin, and the anal fin, so called because it is on the back of the fish, is long and very large, totally different from the rest of the body.
This fin is of the adipose type, however, through different crossings and selection of specimens, they have evolved to varieties with other types of fins that are even longer and darker in color.
LUMINOUS TETRA FISH:
It is a fish with fusiform morphology in which the horizontal line that crosses the middle of the body from side to side stands out, its mouth is terminal, the caudal fin homocercal.
The base color of the luminous tetra is silver, especially on the ventral part, the rest of the body is darker.
Males are more striking than females, they have larger bodies and a rounded ventral area.
The average length of the light tetra, Hemigrammus erythrozonus, is about 3 cm.
COPPER TETRA FISH:
These adorable minnows are quite peaceful and are used to living together in small groups of between 8 or 10 individuals of the same species.
Although they are suitable for living with other species, it will be good if they also have companions just like them.
Be careful because they love to nibble the fins of other species with a large tail, so we recommend that you keep them with other species of a similar character.
It is that being a small fish can become prey for larger species.
NEON TETRA FISH:
The Neon fish, Neon tetra or Neon Innesi, is a warm and fresh water fish of the characin family, they are related to the famous piranhas, and with the also known Tetra Cardinal or neon Cardinal.
Not to be confused with the Chinese neon fish, which is from the cyprinid family, and is a cold water neon fish.
It is a fish that is not too easy to reproduce in the aquarium, although not impossible.
Currently, it is a very popular fish since professionals have managed to overcome the problem of reproduction in captivity and many of these fish are produced, greatly reducing the price of neon fish.
To its price, we must add something that is obvious and that aquarium lovers appreciate, it is a fish that adapts well to living with other species, it is not very demanding in terms of water quality and it is very resistant, which makes a variety of fish suitable for anyone who wants to start in the world of aquariums.
LEMON TETRA FISH:
The Lemon Tetra, Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis, is a very curious fish both in appearance and behavior. Although its body is transparent, it has an overall lemon coloring if it is kept properly and well fed. It is also very curious and friendly, making it a very good community aquarium dweller.
This species is very adaptable and ideal for a community aquarium with other peaceful fish. Like all tetras, lemon tetras are happiest in a community of 6 or more individuals of their own kind. In the wild they are found in large schools containing thousands of fish. They are moderately hardy and fairly easy to spawn, making them a great choice for beginning aquarists. The Lemon Tetra will appreciate a planted tank that is balanced with plenty of open space in which to swim around with friends. Some floating plants to help dim the light will help make them very comfortable.
This is a very pretty fish in general, but the Lemon Tetra is most attractive when kept well. It will show its best coloration with a proper diet, which may include a food-enhancing dye such as Tetra Ruby. A color morph of this fish has been developed that is albino, but the lemon form is even more popular.
PEREZ TETRA FISH:
It reaches a length of between six to seven cm long, it is characterized by having a flattened body, widening in the middle dorsal area to the middle ventral area, adopting a rhomboid shape.
It has a very light base color that alternates with silvery tones, with some reddish spots, in many specimens the red coloration also extends as a line in the middle part of its body.
The dorsal fin is elongated, more pronounced in males than in females.
The snout with a rounded end and the mouth inclined upwards, the voluminous eyes, highlighting the vertical black line that crosses the middle part of the eye.
CHINESE NEON FISH OR WHITE CLOUD MOUNTAIN FISH:
The Chinese Neon fish, also known as the White Cloud Mountain fish, is a gregarious and peaceful fish, ideal for cold water aquariums. Its care and procreation is simple, suitable for beginners.
Its scientific name, Tanichthys albonubes, we owe to the Chinese leader Tan Kan Fei, who gives it the name "Tan", plus the Greek ichthus, which means fish.
Albonubes, from the Latin albus, which means white and clouds, in reference to the town where these fish come from.
The male Chinese neon fish is distinguishable from the female fish thanks to the fact that there is certain sexual dimorphism.
The females are rounder and larger than the males, thinner and more colorful.
They have a size between 4 and 6 centimeters.
The usual colors of the Chinese Neon are greenish brown for the body, crossed by a longitudinal yellow line.
Its fins are yellow and red.
Over the years, the colors slowly fade, in both sexes.
Although the greenish color is the most common, there are varieties of Chinese Neon fish super red, albino, gold, even a variety of long fins.
