THE ANGEL FISH, PTEROPHYLLUM:
The groups of these similar populations include the various species, of which those closely related to each other belong to the same genus.
It is a rather rare occurrence for a scientist studying a given genus of fish to agree completely with previous studies of it, which is why the names of fish are never stable and change continually.
Most ichthyologists consider that there are only two valid species, in addition to a subspecies, in the genus PterophyllumDumerilii , the P. Scalare (common angelfish) and the Ps altum (currently imported on certain occasions).
VARIETIES OF ANGEL FISH THAT EXIST:
There are two general groups of varieties, one of which comprises those with different fin shapes.
In this respect there are varieties of normal fin and others of long fin.
Then the colored ones, it should be noted that there are many more of these than the fins.
Apart from this it should also be stressed that we can expect many more color varieties in angelfish than we currently have, but such varieties will be limited by the genetic material already available in the genes and chromosomes of the original wild angels from which they are descended. all those that make up our current breeding stock.
The angels are black and silver and all the varieties obtained so far derive from both colors, or lack color, which gives rise to albinos or lutins (albinos with a yellow body and black eyes) or their silver in its entirety. with little black coloration.
